What this trial studies

This observational study at Acıbadem University in Istanbul will enroll mothers of infants aged 0–6 months who have breastfed at least once. Participants will complete questionnaires measuring belief in common breastfeeding myths, breastfeeding knowledge and attitudes, and their motivation and feeding practices. Researchers will analyze associations between endorsement of myths and measures of breastfeeding motivation and early cessation or introduction of other foods. No interventions are given and the study relies on self-reported data, excluding mothers with health conditions preventing breastfeeding or those exclusively formula-feeding.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Mothers with infants aged 0–6 months who have breastfed at least once and are willing to complete questionnaires at Acıbadem University.

Not a fit: Mothers who exclusively formula-feed, have health conditions that prevent breastfeeding, or whose infants are older than 6 months are unlikely to benefit from the findings directly.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If links are found, clearer education targeting specific myths could strengthen mothers' confidence and help increase exclusive breastfeeding rates.

How similar studies have performed: Previous research has separately linked breastfeeding knowledge or motivation to outcomes, but combining myth endorsement and motivation in this way is relatively novel.
