What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of a home-based Graded Repetitive Arm Supplementary Program (GRASP) designed for stroke patients with upper limb impairments. The program is self-administered and focuses on facilitating motor function and recovery while preventing learned nonuse of the affected limb. Participants will engage in group interventions to enhance their rehabilitation experience. The study aims to fill the gap in research regarding the application of GRASP in Taiwan, following its incorporation into Canadian Stroke Best Practice Recommendations.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 20 years old who have experienced their first stroke and have partial voluntary movement in their affected upper limb.
Not a fit: Patients with other neurological diseases, orthopedic conditions affecting upper limb movement, or those experiencing pain that limits movement may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve motor function and recovery in stroke patients, enhancing their quality of life.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes with similar home-based rehabilitation approaches, indicating potential for success in this context.
