Home-based HIV prevention using long-acting cabotegravir
Oregon PrEP at Home Study: Real-world Delivery of Long-acting Cabotegravir (CAB-LA) for HIV Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) Through a Tele-PrEP Program and a Home Infusion Program Partnership to Address Geographic PrEP Disparities in Oregon
This study is testing how well people in both cities and rural areas can stick to using a long-acting HIV prevention medication called cabotegravir when it's delivered at home.

What this trial studies
This observational study evaluates the implementation of long-acting cabotegravir (CAB-LA) for HIV pre-exposure prevention (PrEP) through a partnership between the OHSU Tele-PrEP Program and the OHSU Home Infusion Pharmacy. It aims to assess adherence to CAB-LA among urban and rural participants while improving the program to reduce geographic disparities. The study will gather insights to enhance the partnership and share best practices with the broader HIV prevention community.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are HIV-negative individuals residing in Oregon who can communicate in English or Spanish and have access to stable internet and a safe location for home administration.
Not a fit: Patients who are HIV-positive, have contraindications to CAB-LA, or lack insurance coverage for home infusion services may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide a more accessible and effective method for HIV prevention in diverse populations.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using telemedicine and home-based interventions for HIV prevention, indicating potential success for this approach.
