What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates a golf recreational exercise program aimed at enhancing survivorship among underrepresented prostate cancer survivors. Participants will engage in a 10-week program that includes group sessions led by a Professional Golfers' Association professional, incorporating warm-up exercises, golf instruction, and play on a Par 3 course. The study will assess the program's impact on physical capacity, psychosocial wellness, health, and cognition through pre- and post-intervention data analysis. Additionally, participants will wear activity trackers and provide blood samples for further evaluation.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are older adult males aged 55-85 with a primary diagnosis of prostate cancer who are currently receiving androgen deprivation therapy.
Not a fit: Patients with a second cancer diagnosis, bone metastases, or significant cardiovascular issues may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve the physical and psychosocial health of prostate cancer survivors.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown positive outcomes with exercise interventions for cancer survivors, suggesting potential success for this novel approach.
