Ginger capsules for inflammation, oxidative stress, and blood vessel health
Study of the Effect of Ginger Capsules on Markers of Inflammation, Oxidative Stress, and Endothelial Damage
NA · Universidad Católica San Antonio de Murcia · NCT07437222

What this trial studies
This is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in adults with excess adiposity who do not have diagnosed chronic diseases. Participants are randomly assigned to take either a ginger supplement capsule or a matching placebo each day for 60 days. Researchers will measure blood markers of inflammation, oxidative stress, and endothelial damage before and after the intervention. The design isolates the effect of ginger compared with placebo to see if daily supplementation changes these cardiometabolic risk markers.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults aged 23–65 with a BMI over 27.5 kg/m², without diagnosed chronic diseases, not taking regular medications or supplements, non-smokers, and not pregnant or breastfeeding are ideal candidates.
Not a fit: People with chronic illnesses, current smokers, those on regular pharmacological treatments or dietary supplements, pregnant or breastfeeding individuals, recent surgery patients, or those following active weight-loss diets are unlikely to qualify or benefit.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, daily ginger supplementation could reduce inflammatory and oxidative stress markers and modestly improve endothelial function, which may lower cardiometabolic risk.
How similar studies have performed: Some smaller randomized and observational studies have reported modest anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects of ginger, but results are inconsistent and larger confirmatory trials are limited.
