What this trial studies

This interventional project observes how adults using Fitbit on Android interact with a Pre-visit Lab that returns outputs from generative AI models in response to symptom queries. Participants will use the Fitbit Plan for Care Lab and a baseline model while researchers collect interaction data and the AI-generated content about potential urgency, possible causes or diagnoses, and a visit summary. The study is limited to U.S. residents who can consent in English and excludes participants with chief complaints related to mental health, sexually transmitted infections, or pregnancy. Outcomes emphasize usability and the content produced rather than clinical effectiveness or diagnosis confirmation.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults (age of majority), living in the United States, who use Fitbit on an Android smartphone with a personal Google account and can read and consent in English.

Not a fit: People with chief complaints related to mental health, sexually transmitted infections, or pregnancy, as well as non-Android Fitbit users, minors, non-U.S. residents, or those using corporate Google accounts are unlikely to benefit from participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, the tool could help people recognize when a symptom needs prompt care, suggest possible causes, and make clinical visits more focused and productive.

How similar studies have performed: Previous digital symptom-checkers and triage tools have shown mixed accuracy, and applying generative AI to pre-visit summaries is a relatively new approach with limited published validation.
