French nationwide registry of colorectal endoscopic submucosal dissection at expert centers

French Colorectal ESD Cohort in Experts Centers

Observational University Hospital, Limoges · NCT04592003

What this trial studies

This multicenter observational cohort will enroll all patients referred for colorectal ESD at participating French expert centers and prospectively record procedural, histological, safety, and follow-up outcomes. Data collected will include en bloc resection and recurrence rates, perforation and bleeding complications, procedure duration, and need for repeat interventions or surgery. The project aims to provide large-scale, real-world evidence on safety, effectiveness, and practice patterns of colorectal ESD across France compared with published benchmarks for wide-field EMR. As an observational registry, it will describe outcomes and variation in practice rather than provide randomized comparisons.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults referred for colorectal ESD for large superficial neoplastic or pre-neoplastic colorectal lesions.

Not a fit: Patients with invasive colorectal cancer requiring surgery, those not referred for or who decline ESD, or patients with contraindications to endoscopic resection are unlikely to benefit from participation.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this registry could clarify the real-world safety and effectiveness of colorectal ESD and inform treatment choices for large superficial colorectal lesions.

How similar studies have performed: Japanese series have shown high en bloc resection rates and low recurrence with ESD, but prospective comparative data in Western populations are limited.
