Facial prediction technology for patients without teeth
Research on Facial Prediction Technology for Edentulous Implant-Supported Fixed Prostheses Based on Multimodal Data Fusion
This study is testing a new technology to see if it can help predict how a person's face will change after getting dental implants, specifically for people over 50 who don't have any teeth.

What this trial studies
This observational study focuses on edentulous patients, particularly those aged 50 and above, to explore the use of deep learning technology in predicting facial contour changes after dental implant placement. By establishing a multi-modal dataset, the study aims to enhance the understanding of how facial appearance can be improved post-surgery, addressing both functional and aesthetic concerns of patients. The research leverages advancements in artificial intelligence to provide insights that were previously unattainable due to technological limitations.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 50 and above who are completely edentulous and in good physical health.
Not a fit: Patients who refuse to participate or are unable to undergo facial scanning will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could significantly improve the quality of life for edentulous patients by providing predictive insights into facial aesthetics after dental implants.
How similar studies have performed: While the use of deep learning in facial prediction is a novel approach, similar studies have shown promise in related fields, indicating potential for success.
