What this trial studies

This observational study investigates the relationship between brain structure, function, and gene expression in patients with schizophrenia and other mental disorders. Participants aged 13-35 will undergo baseline and follow-up assessments while adhering to their prescribed medications for one year. The goal is to identify biological markers and understand how gene-environment interactions affect brain networks, which could enhance the understanding of schizophrenia's neuropathological basis.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals aged 13-35 with a diagnosis of schizophrenia or other specified mental disorders who have been ill for less than 24 months.

Not a fit: Patients with a family history of psychotic disorders or those with significant physical or neurological diseases may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved diagnostic and treatment strategies for schizophrenia and related mental disorders.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies exploring similar biological markers in mental disorders, this specific multi-omics approach combined with neuroimaging is relatively novel.
