What this trial studies

This study focuses on patients with aortic valve stenosis who have undergone transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). It aims to evaluate the effectiveness of physiotherapist-led exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation (PT-X) in improving physical fitness, walking ability, and quality of life in these patients. Given the high prevalence of frailty and comorbidities in this population, the study seeks to address the lack of access to rehabilitation services in Sweden. By providing structured exercise interventions, the study hopes to enhance recovery and overall health outcomes for these individuals.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are older adults diagnosed with aortic stenosis who have undergone TAVI.

Not a fit: Patients who are unable to participate in physical activities due to other disabilities may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the physical fitness and quality of life for patients recovering from TAVI.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes with physiotherapist-led exercise rehabilitation in similar patient populations, although evidence is currently limited.
