What this trial studies
This study investigates the impact of elliptical physical activity on sexual dysfunction in men suffering from irritable bowel syndrome. Forty participants will be divided into two groups: one group will engage in 40 minutes of elliptical training three times a week for 12 weeks, while the other group will not participate in any physical activity. The goal is to determine if exercise can alleviate symptoms of both irritable bowel syndrome and erectile dysfunction. The study aims to provide insights into the relationship between physical activity and sexual health in this population.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are married men diagnosed with both irritable bowel syndrome and erectile dysfunction.
Not a fit: Patients who are obese or have significant cardiac, renal, or systemic diseases may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve sexual function and overall quality of life for men with irritable bowel syndrome.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific combination of elliptical training and sexual dysfunction in this context may be novel, previous studies have shown that exercise can improve symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome and sexual health.
