Examining the TMEM230 gene's role in atherosclerosis
Role of T-Mem GEne in the Molecular Pathogenesis of Atherosclerosis
IRCCS Policlinico S. Donato · NCT06230406

What this trial studies
This observational study focuses on understanding the modulation of the TMEM230 gene in patients with vascular pathologies, particularly atherosclerosis. It involves collecting and analyzing approximately 12 samples of vascular tissue from surgical procedures, alongside venous blood samples. The study aims to uncover the molecular mechanisms of atherosclerosis by examining genetic factors and their interactions with various risk factors. The findings could provide insights into the underlying causes of atherosclerosis and potential therapeutic targets.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include adult patients over 18 years old who are undergoing surgical treatment for arterial or venous vascular pathologies.
Not a fit: Patients with vascular pathologies that are not suitable for surgical intervention will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to a better understanding of atherosclerosis and inform new treatment strategies for patients.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of analyzing the TMEM230 gene in this context may be novel, previous studies have explored genetic factors in atherosclerosis with varying degrees of success.
