What this trial studies

This trial aims to explore the relationships between ongoing alcohol consumption, suicidal thoughts and behaviors, and behavioral economic decision-making among adults who consume alcohol. Participants will undergo a baseline assessment and then engage with a remote, self-guided Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) program designed to address alcohol use. Over three months, participants will complete follow-up assessments to evaluate changes in alcohol use, suicidal thoughts, and decision-making processes. The study seeks to identify predictors of engagement with the intervention and its effectiveness in reducing alcohol use and suicidal ideation.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who consume alcohol weekly and express a desire to reduce their drinking.

Not a fit: Patients with severe alcohol use disorder or those currently receiving treatment for alcohol use disorder may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into effective remote interventions for reducing alcohol use and suicidal thoughts in adults.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using remote cognitive behavioral therapy for alcohol use, suggesting potential for success in this approach.
