What this trial studies
This observational study investigates how sleep disordered breathing affects cardiovascular health in pregnant individuals. Participants will undergo an 8-day testing protocol at two points during their pregnancy, which includes at-home sleep testing, vital signs monitoring, physical activity tracking, and laboratory assessments. The study aims to determine the relationship between sleep disordered breathing and heart function, as well as the potential protective effects of physical activity during pregnancy.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are pregnant individuals aged 18 and older who are between 20-24 weeks gestation at enrollment.
Not a fit: Patients who have a previously diagnosed sleep disorder or have worked shift work past 11pm in the previous month may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved cardiovascular health monitoring and interventions for pregnant individuals experiencing sleep disordered breathing.
How similar studies have performed: While there is existing research on sleep disordered breathing and cardiovascular health, this specific approach in pregnant individuals is relatively novel.
