What this trial studies

This study investigates how subgingival instrumentation, a dental treatment, affects psychological distress and mental health in individuals who grind their teeth (bruxism) and have periodontitis. It aims to understand the relationship between these dental conditions and mental health issues such as stress, anxiety, and depression. The study will include systemically healthy patients aged 30-50 who meet specific criteria, while excluding those with a history of mental health disorders or certain systemic diseases. The findings could provide insights into the psychological benefits of dental interventions for this population.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are systemically healthy individuals aged 30-50 who have both bruxism and periodontitis.

Not a fit: Patients with a history of mental health disorders or systemic diseases may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve mental health outcomes for patients suffering from both bruxism and periodontitis.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific combination of dental treatment and mental health in bruxism has not been extensively studied, related research suggests potential benefits of addressing oral health issues on psychological well-being.
