What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the presence of tumor deposits in patients with colorectal cancer and assesses their prognostic significance regarding survival and metastasis. Tumor deposits are defined as isolated tumor foci located in the pericolonic or perirectal fat, which are associated with a poorer prognosis following surgical intervention. The study will include patients with pathologically confirmed tumor deposits from stages I to III of colorectal cancer, focusing on their outcomes post-therapeutic resection.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old with stage I to III colorectal cancer who have pathologically confirmed tumor deposits.
Not a fit: Patients who have undergone neoadjuvant therapy or have incomplete follow-up information may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide valuable insights into the prognostic factors influencing survival in colorectal cancer patients, potentially guiding treatment decisions.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of evaluating tumor deposits in this context may be novel, similar studies have indicated that tumor deposits are correlated with poor prognosis in colorectal cancer.
