What this trial studies
This observational study assesses the outcomes of patients with classical trigeminal neuralgia who are treated using high dose rate radiosurgery on a LINAC machine. Conducted at the Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grace, the study includes both retrospective and prospective case series from April 2018 to January 2028. Patients will receive a frameless technique delivering 90 Gy to the intra cisternal portion of the trigeminal nerve, focusing on pain relief and sensory changes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults over 18 with classical trigeminal neuralgia resistant to maximum tolerated medical therapy and experiencing severe pain.
Not a fit: Patients with secondary trigeminal neuralgia or those who have previously undergone radiosurgery will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide significant pain relief for patients suffering from trigeminal neuralgia who have not responded to conventional medical therapies.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on radiosurgery for trigeminal neuralgia, this specific approach using high dose rate on LINAC is relatively novel.
