Evaluating outcomes of surgery for biceps tendon injuries

Evaluation of Clinical and Radiographic Findings in Patients Treated Surgically for Biceps Long Head Injury

Not applicable Interventional Istituto Ortopedico Rizzoli · NCT06483256

What this trial studies

This interventional study focuses on patients who have undergone arthroscopy-assisted distal biceps tendon repair at the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute. It includes a follow-up period of at least two years, during which clinical and radiographic evaluations will be conducted. Trained medical staff will identify eligible patients, who will then undergo clinical examinations, strength assessments, and radiographic studies to assess the success of the surgical intervention and identify any complications such as anchor loosening or heterotopic ossifications.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who have had surgery for a distal biceps tendon injury within 30 days of the injury using an arthroscopy-assisted technique.

Not a fit: Patients under 18 years old or those with unrelated complications in the operated limb post-surgery may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve understanding of surgical outcomes and complications for patients with biceps tendon injuries.

How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have been conducted, this specific evaluation of outcomes following arthroscopy-assisted repair is relatively novel.
