What this trial studies
This project aims to assess clinical decision-making algorithms for triaging and adapting mental health care levels for community college students experiencing depression and anxiety. Participants will be randomized into two groups, receiving either symptom severity decision-making or data-driven decision-making, and will be assigned to one of three levels of care: self-guided online prevention, coach-guided online cognitive behavioral therapy, or clinician-delivered care. The study will adapt care levels based on ongoing assessments throughout the enrollment period, addressing the unique needs of a diverse student population. The goal is to create a scalable system that effectively manages mental health needs in conjunction with social determinants.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are currently enrolled students at East Los Angeles College who are either uninsured or covered by California Medicaid.
Not a fit: Patients with severe mental health disorders requiring specialized care or those currently receiving treatment from a psychiatrist or psychologist may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this project could provide tailored mental health care solutions that significantly improve the well-being of community college students.
