Evaluating isometric exercises to lower blood pressure in resistant hypertension
Evaluation of the Safety and Efficacy of Two Isometric Exercises in the Reduction of the Blood Pressure in People With Resistant Hypertension
This study tests whether doing handgrip and wall squat exercises can help lower blood pressure in people aged 40 to 75 who have resistant hypertension and are already on medication.

What this trial studies
This study investigates the effects of two types of isometric exercises, specifically handgrip and wall squat, on reducing blood pressure in individuals with resistant hypertension. Participants aged 40 to 75 years, who have been diagnosed with resistant hypertension and are on stable medication, will engage in these exercises to assess their impact on blood pressure levels. The study aims to provide evidence for the effectiveness of isometric exercise as a non-pharmacological intervention for managing hypertension. By focusing on a population that struggles with conventional treatment, the study seeks to explore alternative methods for blood pressure control.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 40 to 75 years with a diagnosis of resistant hypertension who have been on stable medication for at least six months.
Not a fit: Patients with secondary hypertension, heart failure, or other significant health conditions that contraindicate exercise may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could provide a new, accessible method for patients with resistant hypertension to manage their blood pressure effectively.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results for the use of isometric exercise in managing hypertension, indicating that this approach is gaining traction in the field.
