What this trial studies
This project aims to assess a novel consultation-based treatment program for individuals experiencing intractable self-harm. The study will evaluate improvements in daily functioning, frequency and severity of self-harm, and hospital admissions related to the provided interventions. Participants will receive individualized intervention plans based on comprehensive assessments and ongoing support for their existing treatment providers. Data will be collected through self-report measures and medical records to determine the effectiveness of the interventions.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals who have attempted at least two different interventions for self-harm without sufficient improvement.
Not a fit: Patients who require translation services or are unable to complete measures or interviews will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly improve the quality of life and reduce self-harm behaviors in patients with severe psychiatric symptoms.
How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies addressing self-harm, this specific consultation-based approach is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
