Evaluating bone density and vascular calcifications after kidney transplant
Evolution of Bone Density, Bone Micro-architecture and Vascular Calcifications in Patients After Kidney Transplantation

What this trial studies
This observational study assesses bone architecture and vascular calcifications in recent kidney transplant patients using high-resolution peripheral quantitative CT and DEXA scans. It aims to understand the evolution of bone and vascular health over time by analyzing nephrological clinical parameters and biological markers related to mineral metabolism. The study seeks to establish relationships between bone mass, muscle mass, and the presence of vascular calcifications, which are critical for improving patient outcomes post-transplant.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older who have received a kidney transplant within the last three months.
Not a fit: Patients who have received bisphosphonate treatment or other bone-active medications in the last three months, as well as those undergoing multiple organ transplants, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to better prevention and management of bone and vascular complications in kidney transplant patients.
How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of this study may be novel, there is existing literature on the complications of bone and vascular health in kidney transplant patients, indicating a need for further exploration.
