Evaluating blood biomarkers to predict outcomes in stroke patients after thrombectomy
Blood Biomarkers to Predict the Prognosis of a Stroke Patient Undergoing Mechanical Thrombectomy

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the effectiveness of a panel of blood biomarkers and clinical variables in predicting the prognosis of patients with acute ischemic stroke who undergo mechanical thrombectomy. The study will recruit 400 consecutive patients treated with thrombectomy and utilize a rapid test for biomarker measurement alongside clinical data to evaluate the potential for predicting futile recanalization and mortality. Given the high rates of poor recovery despite successful recanalization, this research seeks to provide valuable insights into patient outcomes following treatment.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults over 18 years old who are undergoing mechanical thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke.
Not a fit: Patients who cannot provide a blood sample or have invalid test results may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the ability to predict patient outcomes after thrombectomy, potentially guiding treatment decisions and improving care for stroke patients.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have explored the use of biomarkers in stroke prognosis, indicating potential for success, though this specific approach may be novel.
