Evaluating a new stent graft for treating acute aortic syndrome
Real-world Experience With the Castor Single Branch Stent Graft in the Management of Acute Aortic Syndrome
This study is testing a new type of stent graft to see if it is safe and effective for people with acute aortic syndrome who don't have enough support for traditional treatment.

What this trial studies
This observational study aims to assess the safety and effectiveness of the Castor single branch stent graft in patients with acute aortic syndrome who have an inadequate proximal landing zone. A total of 205 patients who underwent thoracic endovascular aortic repair using this stent graft from June 2018 to June 2022 will be followed up for up to 10 years. The study will involve routine assessments, including physical examinations, laboratory tests, and CT angiography at various intervals post-procedure to monitor outcomes.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients with acute Stanford type B aortic syndrome and an inadequate proximal landing zone who received the Castor stent graft between June 2018 and June 2022.
Not a fit: Patients with an adequate proximal landing zone or those who have previously undergone endovascular repair of the aorta will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a safer and more effective treatment option for patients with acute aortic syndrome who have limited surgical options.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have explored endovascular treatments for aortic conditions, the specific use of the Castor single branch stent graft in this context is novel.
