What this trial studies

This observational study aims to gather and analyze data on the morbidity, mortality, disability, and survival rates of adolescents and children diagnosed with cancer in Shanghai since January 2002. Investigators will collect detailed information including demographics, diagnosis dates, types of cancer, and follow-up status. The study encompasses various malignant tumors such as leukemia, lymphoma, and central nervous system tumors, providing a comprehensive overview of childhood cancer in the region.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children and adolescents aged 0-19 who have been diagnosed with cancer in Shanghai since January 2002.

Not a fit: Patients who were lost to follow-up or whose deaths were caused by non-cancer-related accidents will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance understanding of childhood cancer outcomes and inform better treatment and prevention strategies.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies focusing on childhood cancer epidemiology have shown success in identifying trends and improving patient outcomes, making this approach both relevant and valuable.
