Effects of exercise on heart and lung responses in post-COVID-19 patients
Acute Cardiovascular Responses to a Single Exercise Session in Patients With Post-Covid-19 Syndrome
This study tests how exercise affects heart and lung responses in people who have had COVID-19, comparing those with ongoing symptoms to those without.

What this trial studies
This study aims to compare the immediate cardiovascular and perceptual responses to a single exercise session in individuals who have experienced COVID-19, focusing on those with and without persistent symptoms. Participants will engage in both an exercise session, which includes aerobic and strength exercises, and a control session where they remain seated. Measurements such as blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation will be taken before, during, and after each session to assess their responses. The study employs a crossover design to ensure that each participant serves as their own control.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals who have had a positive COVID-19 test and are experiencing persistent symptoms of post-COVID-19 syndrome.
Not a fit: Patients who have not experienced COVID-19 or those with high cardiovascular risk may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help identify effective exercise interventions for improving cardiovascular health in post-COVID-19 patients.
How similar studies have performed: While there is emerging research on post-COVID-19 rehabilitation, this specific approach to assessing acute responses to exercise in this population is relatively novel.
