What this trial studies
This observational study aims to investigate the impact of cannabis use on the cardiovascular system, particularly focusing on blood vessel function and inflammation levels. Participants will include chronic cannabis users and a control group of non-users, with assessments conducted through non-invasive vascular tests and blood sample analysis. The study seeks to clarify the long-term cardiovascular effects of cannabis, which remain unclear despite its widespread use. By comparing the two groups, the researchers hope to uncover potential adverse effects associated with cannabis consumption.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals aged 19 to 80 who use cannabis at least 3-4 times per week and have no history of cardiovascular disease.
Not a fit: Patients who do not use cannabis or have a history of cardiovascular disease may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide crucial insights into the cardiovascular risks associated with cannabis use, informing patients and healthcare providers.
How similar studies have performed: While there is limited research specifically on the long-term cardiovascular effects of cannabis, preliminary studies suggest potential risks, making this investigation both relevant and necessary.
