What this trial studies
This study evaluates the impact of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) combined with a cognitive behavioral program on fatigue in stroke survivors. Participants will be randomly assigned to one of three groups: one receiving tDCS and cognitive behavioral therapy with home-based physical training, another receiving sham tDCS with the same therapy, and a third group receiving only home-based physical training. The aim is to determine the effectiveness of these interventions in reducing fatigue and improving related outcomes in individuals who have experienced a stroke.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals diagnosed with stroke at least 6 months prior, experiencing significant fatigue, and who are cognitively intact.
Not a fit: Patients with unstable medical conditions, other neurological diseases, or contraindications to tDCS may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce fatigue and improve quality of life for stroke survivors.
How similar studies have performed: While the combination of tDCS and cognitive behavioral therapy is a novel approach, similar studies have shown promise in addressing fatigue in other conditions.
