What this trial studies

The JACARDI trial is a multicenter initiative aimed at enhancing the eHealth literacy of older adults managing Type 2 diabetes through a blended educational training program. This program consists of five modules delivered over ten weeks, with sessions held every other week, each lasting approximately 90 minutes. Prior to the training, a pre-study will be conducted to tailor the content based on feedback from focus groups that reflect the target population's characteristics. The primary goal is to improve participants' eHealth literacy, measured using the eHEALS scale after the training period.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are older adults with low eHealth literacy who do not have acute or untreated medical issues.

Not a fit: Patients with recent myocardial infarction or stroke, significant mobility issues, or severe visual or hearing impairments may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly enhance the ability of older patients to manage their Type 2 diabetes, leading to improved health outcomes and quality of life.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies focusing on eHealth literacy interventions for chronic disease management have shown promising results, indicating potential success for this approach.
