What this trial studies
This clinical trial evaluates the effectiveness of Eastern Principles Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (EPACT) compared to traditional Western Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and a no-treatment control group among nurses and nursing aides in long-term care settings in the USA and Thailand. The study focuses on reducing work-related injuries, stress, and burnout while improving overall well-being and musculoskeletal symptoms. It also investigates high frequency heart rate variability as a predictor of responsiveness to the interventions. The trial aims to provide insights into the feasibility and effectiveness of integrating Eastern mindfulness principles into existing therapeutic frameworks.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are nurses and nursing aides employed in long-term care facilities within a specified geographic area in the USA or Thailand.
Not a fit: Patients with significant psychological distress or diagnosed mental health conditions may not benefit from this study and will be referred for alternative treatment.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this intervention could significantly reduce work-related injuries and improve the psychological well-being of nurses and nursing aides.
How similar studies have performed: While traditional ACT has shown effectiveness, the integration of Eastern principles in this context is a novel approach that has not been extensively tested.
