What this trial studies

This study aims to determine if early involvement of palliative care alongside standard treatment can enhance the quality of life for patients diagnosed with advanced or metastatic soft tissue sarcoma. Participants will complete quality of life questionnaires before starting treatment and every six weeks for a total of 24 weeks. The study will compare outcomes between those receiving standard treatment alone and those receiving both standard treatment and early palliative care.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 and older with histologically documented advanced sarcoma who have not received prior systemic treatment for palliative intent.

Not a fit: Patients with cognitive impairments, those requiring urgent palliative care, or those actively followed by a palliative care physician may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the quality of life for patients with advanced sarcoma.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown that early palliative care can improve quality of life in various cancer populations, suggesting a promising approach in this context.
