What this trial studies
This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a telematic assessment and monitoring protocol for individuals with cystic fibrosis. Participants will be divided into three groups: a control group receiving standard physiotherapy, a treatment group receiving standard physiotherapy with monitoring equipment training, and a follow-up group receiving both physiotherapy and telematic monitoring with physiotherapist feedback. The goal is to identify exacerbations early to prevent lung function decline and enhance quality of life.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are individuals diagnosed with cystic fibrosis who have access to internet-enabled devices and have not experienced exacerbations in the last 30 days.
Not a fit: Patients who have undergone lung transplantation or are on the waiting list, as well as those with active infections or cognitive impairments, may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this program could significantly reduce exacerbations and improve the quality of life for cystic fibrosis patients.
How similar studies have performed: While telehealth approaches in chronic disease management are gaining traction, this specific application in cystic fibrosis is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested.
