What this trial studies

This project aims to enhance the experience of patients with psychiatric disorders who are on a waitlist for specialized psychotherapy by providing a smartphone-based self-efficacy training program. Participants will be randomly assigned to either an intervention group receiving the training or a control group. The study will also utilize Ecological Momentary Assessment (EMA) to monitor daily mood and social interactions. The goal is to determine if the training can boost self-efficacy, reduce stress, and decrease the likelihood of dropping out from the waitlist, while also positively influencing motivation and the therapeutic relationship in subsequent therapy.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18-65 with a psychiatric disorder who are currently on a waitlist for treatment and have access to a smartphone and the internet.

Not a fit: Patients currently undergoing intense psychotherapy, experiencing acute suicidality, or having acute psychotic symptoms may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly improve the mental well-being of patients during their wait for psychotherapy.

How similar studies have performed: While the specific approach of digital self-efficacy training is relatively novel, similar interventions have shown promise in improving patient outcomes in mental health settings.
