What this trial studies

This clinical trial aims to create a comprehensive digital retinal image dataset from Pakistan, focusing on diabetic retinopathy. The dataset will be graded by three Vitreo Retinal Specialists who will assess the severity of various retinal disorders, including different stages of diabetic retinopathy and other related conditions. Each image will be evaluated for diagnostic clarity, and final grading will be achieved through unanimous consensus among the specialists. This initiative seeks to enhance ophthalmic research and improve patient care by addressing the lack of available retinal image datasets in the region.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 20 years or older with Type I or Type II Diabetes.

Not a fit: Patients who are unable or unwilling to comply with study procedures, as well as vulnerable populations such as minors or incarcerated individuals, may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this initiative could significantly improve the understanding and management of diabetic retinopathy in patients.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in utilizing graded retinal image datasets for improving diagnostic accuracy and patient outcomes, making this approach promising.
