What this trial studies

This project aims to convert a successful in-person harm-reduction treatment for alcohol use disorder into a digital format called eHaRT-A. It is specifically designed for individuals who have experienced homelessness and are currently living in permanent supportive housing. The study will assess whether eHaRT-A is more effective than standard Housing First services in reducing alcohol-related harm and enhancing participants' quality of life. Participants will engage with the digital platform to receive tailored support and interventions.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 21 and older who are currently registered clients at Housing First sites and have a recent history of alcohol use.

Not a fit: Patients who are not currently drinking or those who pose a risk to the safety of others may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could significantly reduce alcohol-related harm and improve the quality of life for individuals with alcohol use disorder who have experienced homelessness.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promise in using digital platforms for harm reduction, but this specific approach targeting the homeless population with alcohol use disorder is relatively novel.
