What this trial studies
This interventional program offers structured dietary counselling and palliative care consultations to cancer patients receiving standard treatment at three hospital/university sites in Bangladesh. Participants who can eat orally will receive individualized nutrition advice and supportive palliative care, with follow-up visits and counseling sessions. Researchers will track changes in quality of life, performance status, and measurable nutritional indicators over time. The goal is to compare patients' outcomes before and after the intervention to see if the consultations lead to measurable improvements.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults with cancer who are receiving standard treatment, are willing to participate, can eat orally, and have measurable health indicators are the intended participants.
Not a fit: Patients who are not receiving standard treatment, cannot eat orally, have unmeasurable health indicators, or are imminently terminal are unlikely to benefit from this intervention.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the intervention could improve patients' quality of life, physical functioning, and nutritional wellbeing during cancer treatment.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies in Western populations have suggested that nutritional and palliative interventions can improve quality of life, but there are few in-depth local studies in Bangladesh.
