What this trial studies
This is a pre-implementation, cross-sectional study using the EPIS (Exploration and Preparation) framework to inform service development. Researchers will collect mixed-methods data, including in-depth interviews and self-administered questionnaires. Participants include transgender people who engage in chemsex, their family or partners, and stakeholders such as healthcare providers and policymakers. Data collection will occur through online or onsite interviews at Tangerine Clinic and the Institute of HIV Research and Innovation in Bangkok.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults (18+) in Thailand who identify as transgender and have experience with chemsex, as well as family/partners and relevant stakeholders who can communicate in Thai, are ideal participants.
Not a fit: People under 18, those who cannot communicate in Thai, or individuals unable to take part in in-depth interviews are not eligible and unlikely to benefit from participation.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the findings could lead to transgender-specific harm-reduction services that reduce HIV/STI risk and improve physical, mental, and social support for people who engage in chemsex.
How similar studies have performed: Related chemsex research—mostly among cisgender gay and bisexual men—has shown promise for harm-reduction approaches, but transgender-specific services remain relatively untested in Thailand.
