What this trial studies
This observational study aims to gather seroprevalence data on dengue among children aged 9 to 17 years in Martinique and Guadeloupe, regions significantly affected by dengue outbreaks. It will assess the acceptability of the Dengvaxia® vaccine among parents and guardians, exploring factors contributing to vaccine hesitancy. The study will involve blood sampling for serological testing and surveys to understand parental attitudes towards vaccination. The findings will inform optimal vaccine introduction strategies in these endemic areas.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are children aged 9 to 17 years residing in Martinique or Guadeloupe.
Not a fit: Patients with acute infections or immune deficiencies may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance vaccination strategies and improve dengue prevention in children in endemic regions.
How similar studies have performed: While similar studies have been conducted in adults, this specific focus on children in the French Caribbean is novel and untested.
