Data-driven strategies to boost cancer patients' understanding of clinical trials
Data-Driven Strategies for Patient Engagement About Cancer Clinical Trials

What this trial studies
This observational effort will develop a multi-level, data-driven intervention to improve how cancer patients learn about clinical trials. Participants at USC Norris will review educational materials and complete surveys about their knowledge and attitudes. The team will use these responses to refine outreach and educational content aimed at diverse patient groups. Enrollment focuses on self-identified Black/African American, Asian/Asian American, White, or Hispanic adults age 21 and older with any cancer diagnosis.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are English- or Spanish-speaking adults (21+) with any cancer diagnosis who can give informed consent and self-identify as Black/African American, Asian/Asian American, White, or Hispanic.
Not a fit: People under 21, those unable to consent, non-English/non-Spanish speakers, or those without a cancer diagnosis are unlikely to benefit from this project.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, the approach could increase patient awareness of and participation in clinical trials, helping more people access new treatment options and improving representativeness in research.
How similar studies have performed: Previous educational and outreach programs have improved patient knowledge about clinical trials but have produced only modest or mixed increases in actual enrollment, so this data-driven, multi-level approach is relatively novel.
