Creating a living tissue bank from glioma tumors
HiLoGlio Organoid Study: 'A Living Tissue Bank of Patient-Derived Organoids From Glioma Tumors'
This study is trying to create mini versions of glioma tumors from patients to see how they behave and how different treatments might work better for people with glioma.

What this trial studies
This study aims to establish patient-derived organoids from low-grade and high-grade gliomas to better understand the mechanisms behind tumor behavior and treatment resistance. By characterizing these organoids phenotypically, genetically, and transcriptomically, researchers hope to develop patient avatars that can be used to test various treatment modalities. The study will also explore the effects of different therapies, including immunotherapy and radiation, on these organoids. Ultimately, the goal is to improve treatment outcomes for glioma patients by identifying effective therapeutic strategies.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are adults aged 18 years or older with a confirmed MRI diagnosis of low-grade or high-grade glioma who are eligible for tumor resection.
Not a fit: Patients who are incapacitated and unable to provide informed consent or have contraindications for neurosurgical resection will not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this research could lead to more effective and personalized treatment options for glioma patients.
How similar studies have performed: While the approach of using patient-derived organoids is gaining traction, this specific application in glioma research is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
