What this trial studies
This study aims to develop a clinical and biological database focused on colon cancer and colic tumors to enhance understanding of tumor invasion and metastatic processes. By collecting tissue and blood samples from patients undergoing surgery for various stages of colon cancer, the researchers hope to identify new biomarkers and therapeutic targets. The initiative addresses the current limitations in studying early tumorigenesis and advanced disease stages due to insufficient sample availability.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients undergoing surgery for colon cancer at any stage, as well as those with related metastatic conditions.
Not a fit: Patients who are not undergoing surgery for colon cancer or who do not meet the eligibility criteria may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to the discovery of new biomarkers and drugs for colon cancer treatment.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies focusing on biological databases in cancer have shown promise in identifying new treatment avenues, suggesting potential success for this approach.
