What this trial studies
Participants work with a music therapist to co-create a personalised soundtrack and with a tobacco‑addiction nurse for smoking‑cessation support and therapeutic education. The programme teaches patients when and how to use their soundtrack to manage cravings and withdrawal in daily life. The intervention is delivered onsite at the cancer centre and patients are expected to use the music tool independently between sessions. The primary aim is to test feasibility and to collect initial data on effects on withdrawal symptoms and smoking behaviour.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Adults with solid‑tumor cancer (not hematologic), who smoke daily, want to begin a quitting programme, have a prognosis over one year, and can attend regular follow‑up are ideal candidates.
Not a fit: People with uncorrected hearing loss, unstable psychiatric conditions, inability to attend regular follow‑up, or who are under guardianship/curatorship are excluded and unlikely to benefit from this programme.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this approach could give patients a personalized, non‑pharmacologic tool that reduces withdrawal symptoms and increases the chances of quitting smoking.
How similar studies have performed: There is very limited prior research on music therapy for tobacco addiction in cancer patients, so this combined approach is largely novel with little direct supporting evidence.
