Comparing two types of tendon grafts for knee ligament surgery
A Prospective Comparison of Clinical and Radiological Maturation Outcomes of Autologous Quadriceps and Hamstring Tendon Grafts in Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction

What this trial studies
This study aims to compare the clinical and radiological outcomes of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction using autologous hamstring tendon grafts versus quadriceps tendon grafts. With advancements in surgical techniques, the quadriceps tendon has gained attention for its potential benefits over traditional hamstring grafts. The study will involve elite and amateur athletes who have sustained ACL injuries, assessing their recovery and performance post-surgery. Participants will be monitored for complications and overall success of the grafts used in their reconstruction.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are elite and amateur athletes who have suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
Not a fit: Patients who have undergone revision surgery or have other significant knee injuries may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide insights into which tendon graft offers better outcomes for ACL reconstruction, potentially improving recovery for athletes.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results for quadriceps tendon grafts, suggesting that this approach may be a viable alternative to hamstring grafts.
