What this trial studies
This clinical study aims to compare the effectiveness of Combined Behavioral Intervention (CBI) and Ericksonian Hypnotherapy (EH) for individuals with Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD). The trial will include 90 adult participants who will be randomly assigned to one of the two treatment groups over a 12-week period. The study seeks to evaluate which therapy is more effective in reducing alcohol consumption and improving psychological well-being, while also assessing impacts on cravings, cognitive beliefs, and overall quality of life. By exploring these two distinct therapeutic approaches, the study hopes to identify the most suitable treatment for different individuals based on their unique needs.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are adults aged 18 to 65 who meet the DSM-5 criteria for Alcohol Use Disorder and are medically stable.
Not a fit: Patients with severe psychiatric disorders, significant cognitive impairments, or those currently undergoing other structured addiction treatments may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could provide a more effective treatment option for individuals struggling with alcohol addiction.
How similar studies have performed: While there is growing interest in hypnotherapy for addiction, this specific comparison of CBI and EH is relatively novel and has not been extensively tested in prior studies.
