What this trial studies

This study compares the over-the-top (OTT) technique for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction with the anteromedial ACL reconstruction combined with lateral extra-articular tenodesis (LET). The aim is to evaluate the effectiveness of these two surgical approaches in enhancing knee stability and improving patient outcomes, particularly in high-demand athletes. The study will include patients aged 18 to 50 with isolated ACL tears and will assess their recovery through MRI and CT scans at the end of the first postoperative year.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates for this study are individuals aged 18 to 50 with an isolated ACL tear and no prior knee surgeries.

Not a fit: Patients with additional ligament injuries or a history of knee surgery may not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to improved surgical techniques that enhance knee stability and increase the rate of return to sports for patients with ACL injuries.

How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown promising results for similar surgical approaches, indicating potential for success in this study.
