What this trial studies
This observational study aims to evaluate the efficacy, prognosis, and health economics of various treatment modalities for mid-low rectal cancer across different centers in China. It will conduct a cost utility analysis to identify the most effective treatment strategies that align with the needs of medical units at various levels. The findings are expected to inform evidence-based medical guidelines and improve decision-making in medical management and insurance for rectal cancer.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates include individuals with pathologically confirmed rectal adenocarcinoma located within 12cm of the anal verge.
Not a fit: Patients with distant metastasis, multiple primary colorectal cancers, a history of previous malignant tumors, or who are pregnant or lactating may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could lead to optimized treatment strategies for mid-low rectal cancer, improving patient outcomes and resource allocation.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown success in evaluating treatment strategies for rectal cancer, but this specific approach focusing on cost utility analysis is relatively novel.
