What this trial studies

This observational study aims to evaluate the short-term outcomes of three surgical interventions—endoprosthetic reconstruction, intramedullary nailing, and open reduction internal fixation—for patients with metastatic pathologic fractures. Conducted at Ankara University, the study will assess factors such as the primary tumor type, chemotherapy and radiotherapy history, and various risk scores to determine the most effective surgical approach. The goal is to relieve pain and facilitate early mobilization in patients suffering from these fractures, which often require surgical intervention rather than conservative treatment.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates include patients with metastatic pathologic fractures who are undergoing surgical intervention.

Not a fit: Patients with primary bone tumors or those managed conservatively will not benefit from this study.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could improve surgical outcomes and quality of life for patients with metastatic pathologic fractures.

How similar studies have performed: While there have been studies on surgical interventions for metastatic fractures, this specific comparative approach is relatively novel.
