Comparing postoperative pain from different neck surgery methods
Postoperative Pain of Robotic, Endoscopic and Open Lateral Neck Dissection

What this trial studies
This observational study investigates the intensity and severity of postoperative pain following lateral neck dissection performed using robotic, endoscopic, and open surgical approaches. It aims to assess pain levels on the day of surgery, one month post-operation, and three months post-operation to evaluate the advantages of minimally invasive techniques. By focusing on patients diagnosed with differentiated thyroid cancer and metastatic lateral lymph nodes, the study seeks to provide insights into the effectiveness of these surgical methods in reducing postoperative discomfort.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients diagnosed with differentiated thyroid cancer who require lateral neck dissection and have metastatic lateral lymph nodes.
Not a fit: Patients with distant metastasis, prior neck surgery or radiation history, or vocal fold fixation may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could help identify the most effective surgical approach for minimizing postoperative pain in patients undergoing neck dissection.
How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results in reducing postoperative pain with minimally invasive surgical techniques, suggesting potential success for this approach.
