What this trial studies
This study aims to assess the physical and psychological needs of patients diagnosed with differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) within one year of their diagnosis. It consists of two phases: the first phase involves a survey to evaluate patients' distress and care needs, while the second phase is a randomized controlled trial comparing the effects of a Nurse-led Survivorship Care Program (NLSCP) and an Information & Communication Technology (ICT) Supported Healthy Active Program (HAP) against a control group. The study will track the impact of these interventions on patients' physical and psychological functions over six months, with a follow-up period of twelve months.
Who should consider this trial
Good fit: Ideal candidates are newly diagnosed DTC patients who have undergone total thyroidectomy.
Not a fit: Patients with recurrent thyroid cancer or those with unclear consciousness may not benefit from this study.
Why it matters
Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance the quality of life and psychological well-being of thyroid cancer survivors.
How similar studies have performed: Previous studies have shown positive outcomes with similar supportive care interventions for cancer patients, indicating potential for success in this approach.
