What this trial studies

This clinical trial aims to evaluate the effects of music and ambient noise cancellation on patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty. Participants will be divided into three groups: one experiencing ambient noise, one with music, and one with noise cancellation without music. The study will assess anxiety levels and functional knee scores before and after surgery through questionnaires and clinical examinations. The goal is to determine if music or noise cancellation can reduce anxiety and improve recovery outcomes.

Who should consider this trial

Good fit: Ideal candidates are patients diagnosed with stage 3-4 gonarthrosis who are undergoing unilateral knee replacement under spinal anaesthesia.

Not a fit: Patients who may not benefit include those with a history of psychiatric illness, previous knee surgeries, or those under general anaesthesia.

Why it matters

Potential benefit: If successful, this study could enhance patient comfort and recovery during knee replacement surgeries.

How similar studies have performed: Other studies have shown promising results using music therapy in surgical settings, suggesting potential benefits in this approach.
